Summary of Job Duties:
The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) is seeking a student-centered, motivated, and dependable English Tutor to provide academic support in reading, writing, grammar, and communication. The English Tutor works one-on-one and with small groups to help students develop the skills and confidence needed to become successful, independent learners.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide tutoring in English, composition, reading, grammar, literature, and related subjects.
- Assist students with all stages of the writing process, including brainstorming, organization, drafting, revising, editing, and proofreading.
- Help students strengthen reading comprehension, critical thinking, vocabulary, and study skills.
- Guide students in the proper use of MLA, APA, and other required citation formats.
- Support students in understanding course assignments without completing work for them.
- Encourage academic integrity and appropriate use of AI and other educational technologies.
- Maintain accurate tutoring records and documentation using the LAC's tutoring management system.
- Collaborate with professors/faculty, staff, and co-members of LAC staff to promote student success and retention.
- Maintain a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development activities.
