Literacy Coach

Brentwood, TN Pay:

$23

•24 per hour

Hours:

Approximately 5-20 hours per week

Schedule:

Afternoon and evening availability, generally between 3:30-8:00 PM The Learning Lab is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate part-time Literacy Coach to work with students in grades K-6. The ideal candidate will have experience providing targeted literacy intervention and supporting students with reading challenges, including students with characteristics or diagnoses of dyslexia. Responsibilities Provide individualized literacy instruction to students in grades K-6 Identify and address foundational reading skill deficits Deliver targeted instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and reading comprehension Implement structured and scripted literacy interventions Adapt instruction to meet each student's individual learning needs Monitor student progress and communicate observations with Learning Lab staff Create a patient, encouraging, and supportive learning environment Qualifications Proficiency in foundational literacy instruction, including phonics, phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension Familiarity with the Orton-Gillingham approach Experience with structured literacy intervention programs, such as SPIRE or the Wilson Reading System Comfortable working with students who have characteristics or diagnoses of dyslexia Comfortable implementing targeted, scripted, research-based literacy interventions Experience working with elementary-aged students in grades K-6 Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills Dependable, patient, and committed to helping students build confidence as readers Position Details This is a part-time position ranging from approximately 5-20 hours per week. Candidates should be available during after-school and evening hours, generally between 3:30 and 8:00 PM. The exact schedule will depend on student needs and enrollment.
