Description Job Summary:
Peer Tutors will collaborate with Baptist University Faculty and staff of the Blue Healer Student Success Center to facilitate tutoring and academic support services. Under the supervision of the Student Support Services Supervisor, peer tutors will communicate with course instructors, course coordinators, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and Baptist University students to identify needs, as applicable to students satisfying course outcomes and content objectives. In collaboration with Student Success Coaches, peer tutors will apply strategies for addressing students' learning needs.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide tutoring and academic support services to students using one on one sessions and small groups sessions through synchronous virtual sessions and in-person sessions Collaborate with students to identify students' learning needs, as relevant to their understanding of course content, assignments and assessment content to include homework, quiz and exam content. Consult with course instructors and/or course coordinators to identify students' learning needs, as relevant to the level of understanding student has demonstrated through graded assignments, quizzes, and exams. Collaborate with Student Success Coaches to employ best practices for facilitating, tutoring and other academic support activities that enhance students' learning, to include assessing students' knowledge and application of course content. Use established processes and management software to document tutoring sessions, student attendance, and students' progression as demonstrated during tutoring sessions, and collaboration with course faculty, and Student Success Coaches. Maintain confidentiality of student' academic performance and records to include communication with students, faculty, student success coaches, as applicable to tutoring and academic support services provided Perform other accountabilities as assigned or directed. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent necessary Completed a minimum of one year of full-time college experience as a student Must have earned a grade of "B" or higher in the courses they intend to tutor and have at least a 3.0 Career G.P.A with satisfactory conduct Must be satisfactorily enrolled in Baptist Health Sciences University. Must receive supportive recommendations from Faculty in the content areas to be tutored
