Northwest Austin Area Schedule:
Flexible Part-Time (primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends)

Competitive hourly rate based on experience About Prep Academy Prep Academy provides highly individualized, in-home academic support to students throughout the North Austin area. We are looking for an exceptional math and science tutor to join our team and become a go-to resource for advanced STEM instruction and test preparation. This is not an entry-level tutoring position. We are looking for the person other tutors call when they get stuck. The Role You will work with middle school, high school, and occasional college-preparatory students in mathematics, science, and standardized test preparation. While assignments vary, the strongest demand is consistently in: Algebra I Geometry Algebra II Precalculus SAT Math ACT Math High School Chemistry AP Chemistry support Physics support You may occasionally be asked to assist students preparing for major exams on short notice, including final exams, AP exams, SATs, and ACTs. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys teaching mathematics and science.

You are the kind of person who: Finds problem-solving satisfying Can explain the same concept five different ways Enjoys helping students have "aha" moments Is comfortable working with both struggling students and high-achieving students Can quickly identify knowledge gaps and build a plan to address them Remains patient when students are frustrated or anxious Qualifications Preferred backgrounds include: Mathematics teachers Science teachers Engineers Scientists Graduate students in STEM fields Former classroom educators Experienced professional tutors Strong candidates will possess: Deep content knowledge in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II Comfort teaching high school chemistry Strong SAT/ACT math skills Excellent communication skills Reliable transportation Professionalism and punctuality Highly Desired Candidates with any of the following will receive special consideration: AP Chemistry teaching or tutoring experience AP Physics experience High SAT or ACT scores Experience preparing students for standardized tests Ability to support advanced mathematics beyond Algebra II Previous success helping students achieve significant score improvements What Success Looks Like You are the tutor we confidently recommend when a parent says: "My child is failing Algebra II." "The SAT is in three weeks." "We need chemistry help immediately." "My honors student needs a challenge." "We've tried two tutors already." You do not need to know every answer immediately, but you should be comfortable learning quickly, preparing efficiently, and stepping confidently into challenging academic situations.
