Job Description

Position Status:
Part Time Work Location Main Campus - 3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX Job Summary Assist students in the Math Lab with math assignments using effective tutoring techniques. Required Qualifications Successful completion of the equivalent of a transfer level math course or instructor recommendation Ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in groups Ability to explain information and mathematical concepts through oral and written communication Preferred Qualifications Prefer Math, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering major Basic computer skills Essential Functions Instruct and assist students in the use of mathematical related technology such as the calculators (TI-30, TI-35, TI-83, TI-84), mathematical software, and computerized tutorial programs through demonstrations Work effectively with math students of all levels to promote student success in mathematics Must be organized, reliable, and punctual Follow best practices for tutoring as instructed Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures Contribute to a safe educational and working environment Other duties as assigned Physical Demands Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time Ability to move around room to assist students for entire shift Use of manual dexterity Security Sensitivity All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.
Min Salary:
$11.00 per hour
Max Salary:
