TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Contractor
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Responsible for leading one-on-one or small group lessons that cater to the needs and goals of their students. Combat the effects of learning loss and meet the requirements of House Bill 4545.
PAY RANGE
$15 - $30 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate (Minimally __ current college student)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Review and analyze student's 3-year testing history
Implement Dr. Joe E. Gonzales' Prescriptive Tutoring Model to develop a tutoring plan for each student
Work with classroom teacher to align tutoring with curricula topics and assignments
Develop parent relationship to involve them in the tutoring process. There must be tutor-parent communication at least once a week.
Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks
Working with students to help them understand key concepts under the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
Teaching skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questions
Demonstrating academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing tactics
Developing and distributing teaching materials to supplement classroom lessons, including study guides
Conducting practice tests to track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparation
Providing students positive and constructive feedback
Offering feedback on progress to students' parents and teachers where appropriate
Contribute to student learning, growth and advancement
Demonstrate academic competence in the subject area(s) and build a curriculum
Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teaching practice
Facilitate problem-solving with a curious mind and critical thinking skills
Collaborate effectively with parents and the organization to increase student performance
Ability to take supervision and correction constructively
Ability to positively supervise students
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Designee & Coordinator of District Tutoring
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
