The Writing Tutor will provide individualized and small-group instruction, helping students build confidence in brainstorming, organizing, drafting, revising, grammar, and academic writing across grade levels. Key Responsibilities Provide small-group writing instruction to students (elementary through high school, as assigned).

Teach core writing skills:

brainstorming, outlining, paragraph structure, thesis development, transitions, and revision strategies. Support grammar, mechanics, vocabulary development, and sentence fluency. Help students with school writing assignments, essays, and projects while promoting independent thinking and original work. Provide feedback using clear rubrics and constructive, encouraging comments. Track student progress and maintain session notes; communicate updates to parents/guardians and center staff as needed. Foster a supportive, motivating learning environment that builds student confidence. Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to center policies Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or currently pursuing). Strong command of written English, grammar, and composition. Experience tutoring, teaching, or mentoring students (preferred). Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different learning styles. Patient, dependable, and positive with strong interpersonal skills. Comfortable working with students of varying abilities, including those who need extra support. Preferred Skills Familiarity with academic standards and common school writing formats (narrative, persuasive, expository, research). Experience with test-prep writing (e.g., timed essays) is a plus. ESL/ELL experience is a plus. Strong organization and ability to manage multiple students' learning plans. Schedule & Work Environment Flexible weekday evenings and/or weekend availability (based on center needs). Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
