Elementary Tutor Magellan Tutoring - 4.3 Arlington, VA Job Details Part-time $30 - $40 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Referral program Qualifications Teamwork Experience teaching math Math Bachelor's degree Working with students Organizational skills Full Job Description Magellan Tutoring is hiring elementary tutors for one-on-one, in-person work with K-6 students across Arlington, Fairfax and the surrounding Northern Virginia communities. $30-$40 per hour , you set your own availability, and we bring you the students — no marketing, no chasing families, no hunting for your own clients. What the work looks like One-on-one sessions with K-6 students, in their homes or at a library near you Math, reading and writing, depending on the student. Most tutors are stronger in one and comfortable in the other, and we match accordingly — tell us which in your application Building a simple plan around what a child is actually stuck on, rather than working through a generic workbook Keeping parents informed in plain language Rebuilding a young student's confidence, which on most days is the larger half of the job What we're looking for Experience tutoring, teaching or working with elementary-age children — classroom, camp, after-school or private all count Solid command of elementary math, or of reading and writing, or both The patience to explain something three different ways and keep a nine-year-old with you A car and a valid driver's license — sessions take place at students' homes and at local libraries Willingness to complete a background check. Every tutor at Magellan Tutoring is screened before their first placement. Based within about a 15-mile drive of Arlington (22206) or Fairfax (22030) A plus, not a requirement Experience with students who have IEPs, 504 plans or other learning accommodations — a real share of our demand sits here, and we'll route it to you A Virginia teaching license, current or lapsed Comfort with early reading instruction: phonics, decoding, fluency The practical details $30-$40 per hour , with your rate reflecting your experience Independent contractor engagement (1099). You take the students who fit your schedule and pass on the ones who don't. Sessions run mostly weekday afternoons and evenings, with some weekend demand. The school year is steady; summer is quieter. We handle matching, scheduling, billing and family communication, and give you access to our curriculum resources Referral bonus when a tutor you send us gets placed About Magellan Tutoring We're a Northern Virginia tutoring company built on one-to-one work with students who need someone in the room with them.
