The math Pre-Algebra through Algebra II and Geometry, roughly grades 7 to 11 — the courses students most often need a second pass at. You don't need to cover every level. Tell us the highest course you're confident teaching and we'll match you accordingly. What the work looks like One-on-one sessions at students' homes or at a library near you Working from what a student is actually stuck on — usually one unit, not the whole subject Building the habits that show up in grades: showing work, checking answers, reading the question twice Keeping parents informed in plain language Teaching your own way. We'll give you curriculum resources if you want them, but nobody hands you a script. What we're looking for Confident command of middle and high school math through Algebra II and Geometry Experience tutoring, teaching or coaching students in this age range The patience to work with a student who has already decided they're bad at math A car and a valid driver's license — sessions take place at students' homes and at local libraries Willingness to complete a background check. Every tutor at Magellan Tutoring is screened before their first placement. Based within about a 15-mile drive of Arlington, VA 22206 A plus, not a requirement Pre-Calculus, Calculus or Statistics — we place these whenever we have someone who can teach them SAT or ACT math prep experience.
