Job Summary WeMind Academy of Learning is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and knowledgeable Part-Time Academic Tutors to provide high-quality, in-person tutoring to K-12 students throughout Northern Virginia. We are currently growing our tutoring team and have opportunities in McLean, Tysons, Falls Church, Vienna, Fairfax, Annandale, Alexandria, Springfield, Reston, Ashburn, Arlington, Burke, Centreville, Herndon, and surrounding NOVA communities . Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students to strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and support individual learning goals. We are especially interested in tutors who have weekday morning and early-afternoon availability , in addition to traditional after-school, evening, and weekend availability. This is a flexible, part-time opportunity that may be a great fit for college students, graduate students, teachers, substitute teachers, paraeducators, retired educators, homeschool educators, and experienced tutors . Subjects We Are Hiring For We are currently looking for tutors who can support students in one or more of the following areas: Elementary and middle school math Pre-Algebra and Algebra English Language Arts Reading comprehension Phonics and foundational reading Reading intervention Writing Science Executive functioning and study skills Homework and general academic support SAT/ACT and standardized test preparation Homeschool academic support Responsibilities Provide engaging, individualized tutoring sessions based on each student's academic needs, learning style, and goals. Support students in developing stronger academic skills, confidence, and independence. Prepare appropriately for each tutoring session. Adapt instruction and strategies based on student progress. Use educational resources, games, technology, and other instructional tools when appropriate. Maintain brief session notes and communicate progress with the WeMind Academy team. Collaborate with the WeMind team regarding student goals, recommendations, and areas of focus. Maintain professionalism, reliability, and consistency with assigned families. Travel to students' homes, libraries, schools, or other approved tutoring locations throughout Northern Virginia. Qualifications Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, childcare, education, or working with school-age students is preferred. Bachelor's degree, teaching certification, or current enrollment in a college or university program is preferred but not required for every tutoring assignment. Strong knowledge of the grade levels and subject areas you wish to tutor. Ability to explain concepts clearly and adjust instruction for different learning styles. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patient, encouraging, dependable, and professional. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within your selected service area. Ability to pass a background check. Experience in special education, reading intervention, structured literacy, UFLI, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, executive functioning, gifted education, or working with students with different learning styles and exceptionalities is a plus. Schedule This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling .

Tutors are matched with families based on their availability, location, preferred travel radius, subject areas, grade levels, and experience . Compensation $20-$35 per hour , depending on experience, education, certifications, subject area, and assignment. Tutors are paid biweekly . This is a 1099 independent contractor position .
