In person About Players Sport & Social Group Players Sport & Social Group (PSSG) is one of Chicago's leading adult recreational sports organizations, hosting and facilitating large-scale adult sports leagues and social events across the city. We create social sport competitions that give people a fun, safe, and welcoming environment to play, compete, and connect. The Role The Volleyball Tournament Director owns our volleyball tournaments from start to finish. You'll plan the day, build the brackets, lead the on-site staff, and make sure every team has a competitive, well-organized, and fun experience — from first serve to the final match. What You'll Do Plan and run PSSG indoor and beach volleyball tournaments from setup to wrap-up Build pools, brackets, and match schedules, and adjust them as the day unfolds Lead and coordinate on-site staff, including referees and supervisors Check in teams, communicate rules and format, and keep courts running on schedule Make final calls on rules questions, disputes, and player conduct issues Oversee court setup, equipment, and teardown Track and report scores, results, and winners Serve as the friendly, professional face of PSSG for players and captains What We're Looking For Reliability — you show up on time and prepared for every event Strong communication and leadership skills and an even temperament Solid working knowledge of indoor and beach volleyball rules and tournament formats Prior experience running, refereeing, or playing in volleyball tournaments Confidence making decisions under pressure, including when calls are contested Organized and able to manage many moving parts at once Availability for full-day weekend tournaments during the season Based in the Chicago area with reliable transportation to venues across the city Nice to Have Volleyball officiating certification or coaching experience Experience with adult recreational or social sports leagues Schedule & Pay Employment type: Part-time, seasonal
