Position Summary:

The Fall Youth Soccer Referee plays a vital role in creating a positive, safe, and supportive environment where young athletes can learn and grow through sport. This position upholds the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility while enforcing the rules of the game, promoting fair play, and modeling good sportsmanship.

Essential Functions:

Officiate youth soccer games. Ensure games are conducted safely, fairly, and according to YMCA and league rules. Manage game flow and communicate effectively with players, coaches, and spectators. Promote and model positive behavior, emphasizing learning and development over competition. Maintain a consistent, calm, and confident demeanor under pressure. Report any accidents, injuries, or behavioral incidents to the Director immediately. Set up and break down game-day equipment as needed. Attend all required trainings, meetings, and pre-season orientations.

Qualifications:

Minimum age: 16 years old (or per YMCA/state guidelines). Knowledge of soccer rules and youth development principles. Ability to work independently and make fair decisions quickly. CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Prior experience with youth sports or refereeing preferred, but not required.
