JOB SUMMARY

: The Youth Soccer Referee is responsible for officiating youth soccer games for ages 4-14. A thorough knowledge of soccer and its applicable rules is required to ensure games run smoothly and players exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. Referees are paid on a per-game basis. This is a PT 3 position, with the benefits listed below

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Create a safe, engaging environment throughout the framework of soccer games Thorough knowledge of age-specific soccer rules for Grades K-8 (age 6-14) Positively interact with youth, coaches, parents/guardians, and team members Referee games within specific age group soccer rules Provide positive feedback to participants and coaches during and after games Communicate with other Park District staff, supervisors, and team leaders as needed Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents Obey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the department Become familiar with and follow the safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District, including, but not limited to, fire, severe weather, and evacuation procedures Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to the immediate supervisor, Human Resources/Risk Management division Attend and participate in required safety training

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 16 years of age At least one year of experience in playing soccer Experience officiating soccer preferred Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Ability to articulate age-specific soccer rules to participants, coaches, and parents/guardians Ability to project across a large area with clear and concise language Ability to maintain self-control and composure in high-stress and/or difficult situations

Ability to engage with children in a warm, supportive, and structured manner Strong communication and interpersonal skills Dependability, flexibility, and a team-player attitude Ability to lead or assist with games, group activities, and small projects Clear decision-making and problem-solving skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Positive energy, initiative, and a genuine interest in working with children

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work outdoors in various seasons\ Must be able to run back and forth the length of the soccer field

CERTIFICATIONS

U. S Soccer Federation certification preferred Must possess CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring, provided by the Park District Complete annual District trainings, including, but not limited to, Sexual Harassment Training annually and Mandated Reporter training every three year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The general work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment, with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The outdoor work area depends on the season.

Saturdays

• September 12th
• October 31st General shift options: 4-hour shift or full-day shift Typical program hours: 8:00 AM
• 3:00 PM General hours of duty will be approved by the Recreation Supervisor
