General Description:
Under the direction of the Deputy Recreation Director, this position is responsible for accurately recording game information and helping ensure the game runs smoothly. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy basketball and working with youth in a recreation setting.
Responsibilities:
Operate the electronic scoreboard and/or scorebook during basketball games. Accurately record points, fouls, timeouts, and other game information. Start, stop, and manage the game clock as directed by the officials. Communicate with referees regarding scoring, timing, and game situations. Arrive on time and be prepared before each scheduled game. Maintain a professional, respectful, and positive attitude toward players, coaches, officials, and spectators. Follow East Longmeadow Recreation policies and procedures. Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
Requirements:
Knowledge of basic basketball rules and scoring procedures preferred. Prior scorekeeping, sports, or recreation experience is helpful but not required. Must be dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with referees and recreation staff. Comfortable working in a fast-paced game environment. Must be able to remain focused throughout the duration of a game. Must be 15 years of age or older.
Qualifications:
