POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Healthy Living Director, the Wellness Attendant is responsible for the safety, supervision and friendly atmosphere of the Wellness Floor to include engaging members as they work out, offer help with questions from members regarding equipment, and using downtime to clean and tidy machines and floor. They will be responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA. Job Schedule(Days) Tuesday, Thursday; Friday; Saturday Job Schedule(Hours) 4pm-8pm weekdays, Saturday, 12:30-4:00pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Intentionally engaging members and guests on the entire wellness floor repeatedly during each shift. Maintaining a servant minded attitude/perspective of delivering extraordinary service to members. Actively listen to members and respond promptly and appropriately. Be able to effectively problem solve, taking full responsibility to remedy the situation and follow through to its completion. Maintaining upkeep of wellness floor area such as: regularly cleaning fitness equipment, ensure fitness equipment is working safely and properly, and restocking workout towels as needed. Creating a positive experience while giving Cause-Driven tours to prospective members. Administering Wellness Orientations to new members to ensure their understanding of rules and how equipment works. Identify members who may be using unsafe or ineffective techniques and make helpful suggestions. Commitment to a high-touch engagement and ability to ask open-ended questions that can provide members with opportunities that will increase their involvement in and sense of ownership of the YMCA. Enforce all YMCA policies and procedures on a case by case bases. Be familiar with YMCA emergency procedures. Respond promptly and appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 16 years old. Must be courteous and outgoing with a strong ability to intentionally engage diverse membership on the wellness floor daily/during respective shifts. Strong ability to connect with members and to connect members with each other is critical. Maintain a positive attitude to assure that the members are top priority and perform all job tasks with a servant minded mentality. A strong and positive work ethic is essential. Must be certified by the YMCA in Basic Life Support/First Aid and Emergency Oxygen within first 30 days of hire. Fitness certification is not required for this position but is highly desirable. A general interest and knowledge in wellness is essential to success. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Multi-lingual desired but not required.
