The Paddock Judge oversees the operations of the paddock and the racing office. This is a seasonal position for the Summer race meet at Colonial Downs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works in conjunction with and under the direction of other race judges. Assists the Identifier in ensuring all horses are correctly scheduled and have the proper equipment. Performs racing office duties, such as over-the-counter and telephone entries. Supervises paddock gate personnel. Ensures that paddock operations adhere to the racing schedule. Works with other personnel regarding changes or delays that could affect the racing program. Reports any violations of noncompliance within the facility. Performs other related duties as assigned. #colonialdownsracetrackREQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detail-oriented and thorough with strong organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of the rules and regulations associated with horse racing.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Must obtain valid gaming license, where applicable.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, push, pull, lift, reach, twist, and bend while enduring prolonged periods of standing and walking. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. The employee may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, and smoke.
