POSITION TITLE
Part Time Instructor•Adult Ed

REPORTS TO
Director of Adult Education Center
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
5•8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. •These positions are contingent upon the availability of funds. Due to the unique nature of an Adult Education assignment, working hours are flexible and personnel will be required to work shifts that may include day and/or evening hours. Teaching assignments may include sites other than the Adult Education Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a valid and current Arkansas teaching certification Possess good communication skills Possess an understanding of adult learning theories Experience working Adult Education program preferred Strong Computer Skills required Highly Self-Motivated

Areas of Instruction and Associated Duties Include:
Student Enrollment Complete paperwork as required Assess educational levels using the TABE Locator and Form 9 or 10 E,M,D, or A as indicated, as needed. Administer other screenings or assessments, as needed Completion of an Individualized Educational Plan Collaborate with student to determine needs Identify long & short term goals Plan objectives to meet goals Provide information on educational resources that will be needed to attain objectives Provide feedback to student on progress Document progress Instruction Teach basic skills/concepts in reading, math, and language Instruct in career and life planning Provide a variety of instructional deliveries including individualized instruction, small group instruction, and whole class instruction Provide a variety of learning opportunities including text books, workbooks, lecturing, audio/visual aids, newspapers & ads, field trips, hands on activities, study buddies, and computer aided instruction Provide accommodations for students with special needs as necessary Establish connections between lessons studied and goals attained Convey expectations for classroom activities Offer guidance for furthering post-secondary educational goals Be familiar with and provide computer-aided instruction utilizing WorkKeys, Rosetta Stone, PLATO, Passkey, Pre-GED, or GED software programs. Record Keeping and Reports Keep accurate records of attendance Create and use detailed lesson plans in collaboration with other instructors. Complete records and reports as requested by other work sites Record progress for weekly reports Report student achievements for weekly reports Write letters or make calls for recruitment and retention purposes Conduct follow ups on students who have exited program Clerical Responsibilities Prepare and organize files for instructional material Maintain individual student files Assist in inventorying and ordering textbooks, etc. Professional Responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge of the principles and philosophies of Adult Education Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain and improve instructional skills Obtain new skills by participating in workshops and conferences Maintain a desirable learning climate by providing a clean, attractive classroom environment and by providing necessary supplies and materials. Maintain a safe, functional area by completing work orders as needed for equipment and classroom repairs. Educate self on current events in adult education Maintain good relationships with referring agencies and other work contacts Perform other tasks as requested by director or coworkers These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
