ABOUT THE ROLE
Aparicio-Levy Technical College is launching a new Paramedic program and is seeking its first Lead Paramedic Instructor. This is a build-it role. You will help stand the program up, teach its core content, and serve as the lead instructor of record as we move toward accreditation through the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP). You will not be starting from nothing. ALTC operates an established EMT program with clinical partnerships already in place across Hillsborough County hospitals and EMS agencies, an active clinical coordination structure, and a Medical Director and Program Director already appointed. What we need is the instructional leader to bring the paramedic curriculum to life.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Serve as Lead Instructor of record for the Paramedic program Teach didactic, laboratory, and skills instruction across Phases 1, 2, and 3 Coordinate and evaluate clinical, field internship, and capstone rotations with hospital and agency partners Mentor and supervise adjunct instructors, lab assistants, and field preceptors Maintain student records, competency tracking, and evaluations to CoAEMSP and Florida Bureau of EMS standards Contribute to program self-study, annual reporting, curriculum development, and advisory committee activity Support student success from admission through National Registry examination and initial certification
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree or higher from an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Current Florida Paramedic certification Minimum four (4) years of experience as an ALS field provider Minimum two (2) years of EMS teaching experience EMS Instructor Level A coursework per the National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors Ability to pass Hillsborough County Public Schools background screening and complete all district onboarding requirements
REQUIRED BY THE START OF THE FIRST COHORT EMS
Instructor Level B coursework, if not already complete at time of hire Current ACLS and PALS provider credentials
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or higher BLS, ACLS, or PALS Instructor credentials Experience launching a new paramedic program, or preparing a program for CoAEMSP Letter of Review or initial accreditation Familiarity with CoAEMSP self-study, annual reporting, and site visit processes Experience with EMS education software, clinical scheduling systems, and student competency tracking Experience working with hospital and EMS agency clinical partners SALARY Salary for this position is set by the Hillsborough County Public Schools instructional salary schedule as adopted by the School Board and the HCTA collective bargaining agreement. Placement is determined at hire based on degree level and verified creditable experience.
