Established in 1984, SHED Children's Campus is a grassroots, non-profit organization located in Andover, MA, on the beautiful grounds of Phillips Academy, offering year round enrichment programs for children and youth ages 20 months-15 years. Our philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach where emphasis is placed upon multi-disciplinary learning opportunities through an emergent, child-initiated curriculum. SCC is seeking enthusiastic and engaged individuals to join our team. We are looking to fill a Lead Teacher position in our Outdoors/Forest Kindergarten & preK program for the 2025-26 school year. This program is one hundred percent immersed in the outdoors. All activities take place outside daily and ideal candidates should understand and believe there is no such thing as bad weather. Candidates should have experience working with children in an emergent, preferably Reggio Emilia inspired environment. Flexibility, commitment, and passion are essential characteristics. We are especially seeking individuals who embrace opportunities to infuse nature, art and mindfulness into both teacher and child-directed outdoor programming. Familiarity with outdoor education is preferred.
Key responsibilities:
Teachers should be able to develop a curriculum that embraces the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the community, mindfulness, gardening & nature Teachers should plan daily work that promotes exploration and discovery for children. Candidates will be expected to observe the interests of the children, and provide additional outlets to further enhance the learning experience.
Candidates should have:
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • EEC Preschool Teacher Qualifications
  • Strong Foundation in Nature Based Learning
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Kindergarten standards Understanding of an emergent curriculum model Training in the Reggio Emilia approach
