Description:
This is a school year position, appointed by the Superintendent-Director, which requires a person who can safely and effectively instruct students in accordance with industrial standards associated with the Advanced Manufacturing field, and in accordance with school policies, procedures, schedules and negotiated agreements. Vocational Instructors report directly to the department's appointed Vocational Team Leader, and/or the school's Vocational Director.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1.Prepare for the delivery of appropriate instruction in accordance with department goals and objectives following proven
procedures.
2.Organize and deliver instruction sequentially following the most current Massachusetts VTE Curriculum Frameworks outlined in
the Advanced Manufacturing occupational area under the Advanced Manufacturing Cluster and utilizing Competency Based
Education methods and techniques as appropriate to individual student learning styles and abilities. Provide quality instruction
relative to all aspects of Health and Safety as they relate to the Advanced Manufacturing Industry.
3.Provide instruction aligned with the Advanced Manufacturing DESE Chapter 74 Frameworks in the following areas of this trade:
Industry Quality Control Standards, Design Process, Problem Solving, Safe Equipment Operation, Advanced Manufacturing,
Precision Measuring, CNC Programming (Manual, Conversational and CAM System).
4.Provide the latest safety training to students and work with them to achieve OSHA certification in a timely manner.
5.Display and promote safe working practices at all times.
6.Use methods of instruction that are welcoming, motivating and student centered.
7.Create an environment that is conducive to learning.
8.Initiate and participate in departmental efforts to integrate instruction
9.Attend curriculum development, departmental, staff, and other required meetings.
10.Participate in activities that promote the best interests of our students and our school.
11.Comply with rigorous standards for professional improvement to keep current with modern technology and pedagogy.
12.Cooperate with department Vocational Training Leader and/or Vocational Director in fulfilling the mission of the department and
institution.
13.Assist the Vocational Director and/or Team Leader with tasks related to budget development, advisory committee logistics,
curriculum development and tasks related to local, state and national assessments.
14.Maintain decorum and control of assigned students for the purposes of enhancing learning and insuring a safe and healthful
environment in the classroom and throughout the school.
15.Abide by school procedures, rules and directives.
16.Become familiar with the schools systems and operating procedures.
17.Must adhere to strict confidentiality practices and policies at all times when accessing and discussing sensitive student
information.
18.Utilize school support services as needed.
19.Maintain department certifications.
20.The candidate must be able to inspire excellence, achieve consensus and respond effectively to the system's mission with
humor and enthusiasm.
Qualifications:

1.Possess necessary approvals to teach Advanced Manufacturing as prescribed by The Massachusetts Department of Elementary
& Secondary Education, as put forth by Chapter 74, as amended by Chapter 731 and The Education Reform Act of 1993.
2.Possess successful background which ensures the capability to succeed as an instructor in the field of expertise.
3.Demonstrate characteristics which clearly indicate an ability to relate positively to students and colleagues.
4.Possess a clear sense of purpose as it pertains to teaching young people who attend this school.
5.Possess a personal history which is exemplary, supported with references.
6.Ability to achieve an OSHA 10 hour certification for General Industry
7.Strive to complete sixty (60) hours of professional development each year.
8.Familiarity with Mastercam and CNC programming techniques.
9.Be physically and emotionally able to fulfill instructional responsibilities and duties.
10.Other job-related duties as assigned.
Compensation:
1.Based on credentials, approvals and experience, the successful candidate will be paid in accordance with the Agreement
between the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School Teachers' Association and the Blackstone Valley
Regional School District Committee. Please see the Agreement on the BVT website linked HERE.
2.All other benefits provided by the Agreement apply.
