education curriculum Experience working with elementary school students Entry level Classroom management interventions Full Job Description Maryland Science Center is seeking an enthusiastic educator for School Programs Instructor position. Instructors will present hands-on STEM classroom programs to visiting school groups. Applicant should be flexible, enthusiastic, and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment. There may be opportunities to assist in the development and implementation of additional educational programming.
Basic Functions:
Present 45-minute classes on a variety of STEM topics to students PreK-grade 12 (primarily elementary and early middle school) Prepare and maintain materials, supplies, and classroom spaces Communicate professionally with teachers and chaperones
Knowledge of:
Basic science concepts Informal elementary education
Skills:
Classroom management Utilize technology in preparation and presentation Flexibility for diverse groups and student needs
Abilities:
Execute a lesson plan Clearly communicate STEM topics Feel comfortable presenting in front of groups Provide excellent guest service
Education:
Bachelor's degree in science, education, or related field preferred. Experience in informal education/STEM instruction may be substituted for education.
Basic Requirements:
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Pay:
$15.50/hour
Hours:
9:45 am - 2:45 pm, 1-2 days per week, Tuesday-Friday
