JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Dance Instructor MCC's Continuing Education Division is seeking enthusiastic, experienced, and knowledgeable Dance Instructors to provide engaging and enriching learning opportunities for members of our community. This position will offer various teaching opportunities throughout the year and will be responsible for developing and delivering accessible, engaging, and practical non-credit dance courses for participants of varying ages and experience levels. Dance Instructors may teach courses in a variety of styles and disciplines, including but not limited to ballroom, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, cultural dance, line dancing, social dance, or other dance-related topics. Instructors will create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that encourages participants to develop their movement skills, confidence, creativity, physical wellness, and appreciation for dance. The instructor will be responsible for preparing lesson plans and course materials, demonstrating dance techniques and movements, providing clear instruction and feedback, and adapting activities to accommodate participants with varying skill levels and abilities. Courses should emphasize participation, personal enrichment, physical activity, and enjoyment while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience teaching dance in a studio, classroom, community education, workshop, or other instructional setting. Strong knowledge and experience in one or more dance styles or disciplines, such as ballroom, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, line dancing, cultural dance, or social dance. Strong technical proficiency and the ability to demonstrate dance movements, techniques, and combinations clearly. Experience developing engaging, accessible, and inclusive lessons for participants with varying skill levels and abilities. Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Ability to create a positive, welcoming, and supportive learning environment. Experience working with adult learners, beginners, families, or community groups is preferred. Formal education, professional training, certifications, or demonstrated professional experience in dance or a related field preferred. Knowledge of safe movement practices, proper warm-up and cool-down techniques, and injury prevention. Ability to adapt instruction and activities to accommodate different physical abilities and learning styles. Commitment to providing enjoyable and enriching educational experiences that promote physical activity, confidence, creativity, and lifelong appreciation for dance. This position will have random teaching opportunities throughout the year. MCC holds classes at multiple locations throughout the Metro area including Fremont and Blair.
