A Vocational Education Instructor teaches technical or job related skills to students, and uses work-based experience to help students learn about and prepare for jobs in a particular occupation. Provides training for jobs in business, health care, auto repair, information technology, culinary arts, or other areas. Teaches in a public high school, a regional or college program, or at a private training program.
Position Overview
Claremont Middle school & Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center is seeking a dynamic,
adaptable, and enthusiastic CTE Exploratory Program Teacher. This unique role is designed
to introduce younger students (middle school / and earlier) to the world of Career and Technical
Education.
The successful candidate will design and deliver an engaging, hands-on rotational curriculum
spanning all six of SRVRTC's core programs. The goal is to ignite student interest, build
foundational technical skills, and establish a clear pathway for students to enroll in full CTE
programs when they get to high school. While the ideal candidate will have deep expertise in at
least one specific CTE field, they must possess the curiosity and versatility to facilitate
introductory modules across all programs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Curriculum & Instruction
? Design a
Unified Exploratory Pathway:
Develop a cohesive, multi-week introductory
curriculum for younger students that highlights the core concepts of all six SRVRTC
programs.

Deliver Hands-on Learning:
Facilitate project-based, experiential lessons that give
students a genuine "taste" of each industry sector.

Differentiate Instruction:
Adapt teaching methods to engage younger learners,
emphasizing safety, career awareness, and soft skills (teamwork, communication,
problem-solving).

Promote Equity & Access:
Encourage participation from diverse student populations
and break down stereotypes associated with non-traditional careers.
Program Portfolios
The instructor will rotate students through foundational concepts and safety protocols in the
following six areas:
Program Exploratory Focus Areas
Medical Assisting Vital signs, basic first aid, medical terminology games, and
healthcare career pathways.
Culinary Arts Kitchen safety, knife skills, food sanitation, and basic baking/cooking
techniques.
Entrepreneurship Business ideation, marketing basics, social media branding, and
"Shark Tank" style pitches.
Plumbing & HVAC Introduction to piping, fittings, understanding airflow, thermal
comfort, and tool safety.
Machine Tool Precision measurement (micrometers/calipers), blueprint reading,
and basic machining concepts.
Building Construction Hand/power tool safety, construction math, measuring, and small-scale framing projects
Required:

Industry Experience:
A strong professional background or instructional license in at
least one of the six CTE program areas listed above.

Adaptability:
A proven willingness and ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and teach
foundational concepts outside of your primary area of expertise.

Classroom Management:
Excellent skills in managing active, project-based classroom
environments, with a fierce commitment to student safety.

Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple instructors
and connect with younger student demographics.
Preferred:
? Valid state certification/licensure for Career and Technical Education (or eligibility to
obtain a provisional/alternative license).
? Experience teaching middle school or early high school students.
