Job Description

Wage:
$500 per week ( August 17th, 2026, through June 4th, 2027 ) plus room and board, private room with shared bathroom and living spaces. Meals are provided when groups are on site eating.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the instruction of environmental education and conference groups including teaching classes, belaying (will train), boating etc. for school and community groups Assisting with curriculum development and planning; and acting as host for school/conference groups (no direct overnight supervision responsibilities) Interact professionally with students, chaperones, teachers, and adult participants to ensure a positive, engaging, and supportive experience for all guests. Provide community outreach and programs through YMCA Milwaukee programs as well as engagement with campers through year-round school programs Support the care and upkeep of camp facilities, program areas, and outdoor learning spaces While programming is a focus for this position; staff will also gain valuable knowledge and experience in overall camp, not for profit, outdoor education, and outdoor recreation management. (training tailored to your goals) Must exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of work with the
YMCA Qualifications:
High School Diploma, or equivalent, and at least 18 years old Bachelor's degree or previous camp experience/knowledge preferred CPR, First Aid, (required) and Lifeguard certification preferred (training available) Basic knowledge of outdoor environments, nature-based education, or recreational programming Passion for working with children and youth, with a strong desire to support learning, growth, and confidence-building
Work Environment, Physical Demands and Child Safety:
This position may include a combination of in-office and remote work, based on operational needs. Workspace may be shared with other staff when on-site. All YMCA Staff are mandated by law to report child abuse and neglect to Child Protective Services. Such reports can be made verbally at 1-855-444-3911. Staff will also report suspected abuse or neglect to their supervisor, senior management, or Human Resources.
