Outdoor Education Program Instructor (FT-Temporary)

Wage:

$500 per week ( August 17th, 2026, through June 4th, 2027 ) plus room and board, private room with shared bathroom and living spaces. Meals are provided when groups are on site eating.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the instruction of environmental education and conference groups including teaching classes, belaying (will train), boating etc. for school and community groups Assisting with curriculum development and planning; and acting as host for school/conference groups (no direct overnight supervision responsibilities) Interact professionally with students, chaperones, teachers, and adult participants to ensure a positive, engaging, and supportive experience for all guests. Provide community outreach and programs through YMCA Milwaukee programs as well as engagement with campers through year-round school programs Support the care and upkeep of camp facilities, program areas, and outdoor learning spaces While programming is a focus for this position; staff will also gain valuable knowledge and experience in overall camp, not for profit, outdoor education, and outdoor recreation management. YMCA Qualifications:

High School Diploma, or equivalent, and at least 18 years old Bachelor's degree or previous camp experience/knowledge preferred CPR, First Aid, (required) and Lifeguard certification preferred (training available) Basic knowledge of outdoor environments, nature-based education, or recreational programming Passion for working with children and youth, with a strong desire to support learning, growth, and confidence-building

Work Environment, Physical Demands and Child Safety:

This position may include a combination of in-office and remote work, based on operational needs. Workspace may be shared with other staff when on-site. All YMCA Staff are mandated by law to report child abuse and neglect to Child Protective Services. Such reports can be made verbally at 1-855-444-3911.
