Job Description

SUMMARY Hourly rate to be determined based on discipline. This is a Part-Time Instructor Pool in our Continuing Education Workforce Development (CEWD) department for available assignments during the academic year. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on departmental needs. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends. If a degree, certification or licensure is required, the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications must be received in the Office of Human Resources within (30) days of hire. Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency." All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES®) in order to be considered for a faculty position. Applicants bear the responsibility of requesting, paying associated fees, and obtaining an original transcript evaluation for submission to the Office of Human Resources. This is a security-sensitive position and requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check The instructor will teach a variety of Microsoft certificate courses and provide quality instruction in a safe environment to students in accordance with Alvin College policies and procedures. This position requires the individual to follow the current course outlines, objectives, evaluate student competencies and maintain safety procedures within the classroom. The instructor constantly evaluates their effectiveness in the classroom by helping students obtain course learning outcomes and the impact that they have on student retention. The ideal candidate will hold multiple industry certifications and have practical experience teaching adult learners in both corporate and academic settings. This role requires expertise in Microsoft 365 and other Microsoft certifications with a focus on workforce readiness and career advancement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop curriculum for short-term certificates and customized corporate training. Adapt teaching methods for diverse learners (entry-level to upskilling professionals). Maintain hands-on labs and real-world project-based learning environments. Guide students in certification exam preparation and portfolio development. Collaborate with employers to align training with industry needs. Adheres to Alvin Community College's policies and procedures. Attends institutional meetings as required. Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent typically will work online or a hybrid modality (virtual instruction).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
AI STATEMENT
Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) or more years of combined industry and teaching experience. Active certifications in at least two of the following areas:
Microsoft:
MCT, MCSE, MCSA, MOS
Expert for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access; Power Platform, or Azure
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Basic proficiency in online tools such as Blackboard The instructor will frequently perform autonomously and must be self-motivated Will be required to proceed with independent actions with mutually established guidelines and minimal supervision from the CEWD Director Must be flexible with the ability to workdays, nights, and/or weekends with the understanding that available hours will be based on the needs of the program not to exceed 19 hours per week Must be flexible and understands a minimum number of hours is not guaranteed and that classes may be cancelled and/or rescheduled with minimal notice due to student need, student enrollment and/or program needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, IT, or related field. Experience with grant-funded workforce programs. Background in corporate training or career coaching. Bilingual- English/Spanish (Speak)
