Job Description
Weingarten Children's Center (WCC) has a flexible, part-time position available for an Educational Audiologist whose expertise is in working with young children (Birth through Kindergarten) learning to listen and use spoken language. WCC is primarily an OPTION school that also provides additional clinical services. The qualified candidate has experience working with children using a variety of hearing devices (e.g., hearing aids, bone anchored devices, and cochlear implants). The role of the educational audiologist is to ensure that all WCC students have appropriate access during the school day. This individual will partner with WCC's interdisciplinary team (e.g., teachers of the deaf, SLPs, and families) to consult, complete diagnostic (e.g., booth testing) and intervention (e.g., equipment troubleshooting) services. Consultation services may include attending the child's IFSP and/or IEP meetings. The interdisciplinary team includes both WCC staff, as well as the child's primary medical audiologist. As a Center of Excellence, WCC strives to provide high-quality, intensive services that prepare students to be educated with hearing peers beyond WCC. We offer continued support for alumni students after school, as well as for families just beginning the hearing journey through our teleintervention program. This flexible, part-time position (10 - 20 hours per week) is needed during school hours between 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. We operate on a traditional school schedule (August through June), plus a three-week summer school program (July). The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. As a non-profit organization, Weingarten Children's Center's (WCC) mission is to transform lives of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, teaching them to listen, speak and learn through: proven spoken language and cognitive development, family-centered education and innovative technology.
