Job Description

Category Schools - Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic contract opportunity providing essential support as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This full-time role, set at 37.5 hours per week, involves working closely with 1-2 high school students, creating meaningful connections and fostering academic growth through effective communication. Ideal candidates demonstrate fluency in American Sign Language and possess the sensitivity and expertise necessary for educational environments. Your skills will empower students to access their curriculum and fully participate in their learning journey.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification or licensure, as required Previous experience working with high school-aged students preferred Familiarity with the educational setting, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and relevant legal standards Strong interpersonal and communication abilities Adaptability and a collaborative mindset
Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken communication into ASL for students in academic, social, and extracurricular settings Foster clear and effective two-way communication between students, educators, and peers Support classroom instruction, lectures, and group activities Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards Assist with student transitions throughout the school day Collaborate with educational teams to align interpreting strategies with student needs This position offers a rewarding way to make a difference in students' educational experiences.
