This role is conveniently situated approximately 20 miles south of Chicago and is designed to begin this summer and continue through the upcoming school year. Qualifications & Experience Sought:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting skills in educational settings Experience supporting high school-age students preferred, especially in a 1:1 capacity Hold a valid certification for sign language interpretation (such as EIPA or state/national certification) Strong understanding of the responsibilities of educational interpreters, including confidentiality and professionalism Effective communication and collaborative abilities with staff, students, and families

Responsibilities:

Provide direct sign language interpretation for a high school student across academic and extracurricular activities Facilitate clear, two-way communication between student, teachers, and peers Support the student's social and academic engagement through consistent, accurate interpreting Adapt communication techniques to best serve the student's unique needs Contribute to a positive and accessible atmosphere within the school community Interviews are taking place now via Zoom for both summer ESY and the full 26-27 school year.
