Educational Interpreter - Suffolk, Virginia Sunbelt Staffing - 3.8 Suffolk, VA Job Details Full-time | Contract Qualifications Interpretation Teacher collaboration American Sign Language Interpretation experience within education industry Full Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This opportunity is for a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) in a school setting, located in Chesapeake, VA. The position is a full-time contract role, working 37.5 hours per week, with an immediate start and continuing through the end of the school year (EOSY).
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings. Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment. Support classroom instruction by interpreting lectures, discussions, and other educational content.
Qualifications:
Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification. Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher. Passing score on the EIPA written test or qualifications deemed equivalent by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH). Strong understanding of educational interpreting standards and best practices. Ability to work collaboratively with educational teams.
