Days Creek Charter School is a small, pleasant school in rural Days Creek, Oregon, approximately 40 minutes from Roseburg, Oregon. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about student success, enjoy collaboration, and are interested in being a part of a small school family. DUTIES This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job. Full job description attached in Applitrack.- Provide instruction in an elective shop program, including woods, metals, and small engine repair.
- Develop and deliver hands-on, project-based learning experiences that build foundational skills in woodworking, metalworking, and small engine systems.
- Instruct and supervise students in the safe use and care of tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.
- Design lessons that promote problem-solving, creativity, and practical life skills through applied learning activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped shop environment, including tool inventory, equipment maintenance, and material management.
- Plans a developmentally appropriate program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and aligns to state standards of learning while fitting into the goals and mission of the district. Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioral expectations.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the development and interests of students.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must hold or qualify for an Oregon Teaching Certificate or Charter School Registry License.
- Desire and ability to work with a team of professional educators in a small/rural school.
- Familiarity with a variety of age-appropriate instructional, assessment and classroom management strategies that reflect current research on best practices.
- Experience working with diverse groups.
- Familiarity with state standards and curriculum frameworks.
- Knowledge and experience with differentiated instruction.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations.
- Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.
- Ability to direct the work of other staff members.
- Ability to develop lessons that prepare students for academic and social success.
- Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.
- A positive role model for the school/community.
