Electrical Design Engineer Duration:
3-12 months Pay rate: $60-$70/hr Job Summary The Electrical Design Engineer provides technical expertise and performs engineering assignments of intermediate complexity for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects. Working under the supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Area Lead Engineer, this role supports project execution through engineering analysis, electrical system design, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Analyze technical problems and recommend engineering solutions in accordance with project requirements Develop and review electrical specifications and design criteria Perform and verify engineering analyses and calculations Specify electrical materials, equipment, and systems Coordinate technical issues with project management, clients, vendors, and other engineering disciplines Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plans, procedures, project scope, cost, and schedule baselines Establish, monitor, and report material quantities, analyses, and forecasts Support procurement and subcontracting activities, including: Scope of work development Technical bid evaluations Vendor submittal reviews Provide technical support during construction activities, including: Responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) Field changes and modifications Perform additional duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical (Power) Engineering Minimum of 5 years of related work experience Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards, including Department of Energy (DOE) requirements Strong written and verbal communication skills Intermediate knowledge of electrical engineering discipline codes and standards Ability to perform work in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in time-sensitive environments Intermediate computer proficiency including: Word processing E-mail Spreadsheet software Presentation software Experience supporting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects in commercial or industrial environments Proficiency using engineering analysis, 3D modeling, and 2D Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) tools in multidisciplinary environments Technical Requirements Create and modify electrical design drawings, including: Single-line diagrams Schematics Wiring diagram layouts Raceway layouts Lighting plans Grounding systems Perform complex electrical system studies, including: Short circuit analysis Load flow analysis Stability studies Motor starting analysis Harmonic analysis Relay coordination Ground grid analysis Develop area classifications and electrical design documentation Perform electrical calculations including: Voltage drop calculations Cable de-rating Cable pulling tension calculations Relay coordination studies Prepare motor schematics and wiring diagrams Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience designing systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under
ASME NQA-1
