JOB DESCRIPTION
Rex Systems Incorporated is seeking a hands-on Electronic Test Engineer to support critical legacy U.S. defense electronics programs. In this role, you'll help preserve and modernize decades of internal knowledge while supporting ongoing production. You'll play a key part in bridging the gap between legacy systems and the future of defense electronics manufacturing. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead engineering efforts supporting legacy defense electronics programs Capture and document legacy processes and test methods from experienced technicians Troubleshoot complex analog, digital, RF, and mixed-signal assemblies down to the component level Develop test fixtures, Test procedures, and conformance methods—even when documentation is limited Design and fabricate simple mechanical fixtures or tooling as needed Apply mechanical aptitude to support custom manufacturing solutions Interpret and work from government technical data packages (TDPs), schematics, and legacy drawings Partner with quality, purchasing, and production teams on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements Support sales by providing manufacturability input during quoting and proposal activities Help preserve and document critical knowledge from experienced engineers and technicians You will collaborate with employees across engineering, testing, manufacturing, and sustainment to help keep our legacy platforms operating at peak performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and/or 5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing and troubleshooting Strong working knowledge of analog, digital, embedded, RF, or telecom electronics Ability to troubleshoot circuit card assemblies down to the component level Understanding of passive and active electrical components and their properties Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical data packages (TDPs) Experience using diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, cable testers (e.g., Cirris), and other bench-level equipment Ability to work through and reverse engineer (analyze) hardware with limited or no documentation Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills Interest in learning from experienced engineers and technicians and helping document key processes and knowledge
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
(NICE TO HAVE)
EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING IS A STRONG ADVANTAGE
Familiarity with IPC standards and MIL specifications (e.g., MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-202, MIL-PRF) Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW (highly desirable) Programming experience in C, C++, and/or Embedded C Experience with PCB layout or CAD tools (e.g., Autodesk EAGLE or similar) Ability to generate or modify Gerber files Experience with Cirris cable testers or similar equipment Familiarity with general CAD and schematic capture tools Mechanical aptitude, including designing simple fixtures Machining experience
