Job Description

Part Time Day Shift Schedule Part Time, Day Shift (32 hours biweekly)
Hours:
Day Shift, 8 or 10 hours shifts General Summary Provides technical support and assistance to the physician during Electrophysiology procedures. Performs scrub, hemodynamic monitoring, stimming, and circulating with all Electrophysiology procedures using clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgement in accordance with professional and departmental standards and protocols. Provides care, assessment prior, during and post-procedural instruction to patients. Prepares and maintains all pertinent information related to procedures.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates proficiency in relevant radiation safety. Monitors and assess clinical status of patient. Monitors and manages cardiovascular hemodynamics. Practices within the scope of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocols when administering emergency care. Advises patient care team and cares for patients appropriately. Demonstrates proficiency with the setup and operation of all equipment associated with cardiac electrophysiology procedures. Demonstrates a thorough understanding and working knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, interventional supplies and equipment operation. Recognizes and resolves equipment problems and discrepancies. Anticipates patient needs and concerns and communicates the appropriate care needed. Demonstrates professional judgement and critical thinking. Scrubs in and assists physicians with procedures when necessary. Circulates within procedure room and procures equipment required for any given procedure. Operates the cardiac stimulator proficiently and independently for ablation procedures. Assumes late call responsibilities as required. Follows radiation safety policies as dictated by the NRC and York Hospital's Radiation Safety Committee. Properly handles and processes electronic record data and images in each respective system. Performs tasks and duties in the prep and recovery areas of the department. Attains Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification within 3 year of hire date.
Common Expectations:
Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assess and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Qualifications Minimum Education:
Certificate Program Certificate program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, Licensed Practical Nurse or Nurse.) Required or Associates Degree Degree granting program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Nurse.)
Required Work Experience:
Less than 1 year Relevant experience. Preferred and 1 year Electrophysiology and/or Cath Lab experience or graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology.
Preferred Licenses:
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist within 2 years Required or Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist within 2 years Required or Registered Technologist-Radiography - ARRT within 2 years
Required and Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required Courses and Training:
Degree from an accredited school of Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Upon Hire Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to function as a team member. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate the principles of surgical asepsis. Understands cardiovascular pathophysiology. Ability to read and interpret 12 lead EKG. Ability to identify and manage lethal arrhythmias 100% of the time.
