Elementary Principal (2026-27) Lake Shore Public Schools - 4.8 Saint Clair Shores, MI Job Details Full-time 6 hours ago Qualifications Stakeholder relationship building Full Job Description Violet Elementary Principal 2026-2027 School Year Lake Shore Public Schools is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as the next Principal of Violet Elementary School beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. Violet Elementary is a student-centered school community committed to academic excellence, positive student relationships, and whole-child development. We are looking for a highly visible, collaborative, and student-focused leader who will continue to strengthen a positive school culture, support high-quality instruction, and foster meaningful partnerships with students, staff, and families. The ideal candidate will possess strong instructional leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and significant experience supporting student behavior, social-emotional needs, and safe school environments.

SuperintendentPOSITION SUMMARY
The Elementary Principal serves as the instructional and operational leader of the building and is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to instructional leadership, behavioral systems and supports, staff development, family engagement, and cultivating a positive school culture aligned with the mission and vision of Lake Shore Public Schools. Strong communication skills are essential. The successful candidate must be able to build trust and maintain positive relationships through clear, consistent, proactive, and professional communication with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
School Culture, Behavior & Student Support Promote a positive, inclusive, safe, and structured school environment for students and staff Demonstrate strong experience with student behavior systems, behavioral interventions, restorative practices, and proactive behavior supports Support staff in implementing consistent behavioral expectations and classroom management strategies Lead efforts focused on improving student behavior, attendance, engagement, and social-emotional well-being Collaborate with counselors, interventionists, special education staff, social workers, and support personnel to meet diverse student needs Build strong relationships with students and families through visibility, accessibility, consistency, and trust Leadership & Operations Effectively manage building operations, scheduling, supervision, safety, crisis response, and compliance requirements Supervise and evaluate instructional and non-instructional staff Participate as a collaborative member of the district leadership team Support hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and retention of high-quality staff Coordinate building-level professional learning opportunities Ensure compliance with district policies, state requirements, and federal regulations Promote positive community relations and partnerships Communication & Collaboration Communicate clearly, consistently, and professionally with staff, students, families, and community stakeholders Demonstrate strong listening skills and responsiveness when addressing concerns or conflict Lead with transparency, professionalism, integrity, and empathy Facilitate productive collaboration among grade-level teams and support staff Present information effectively to various audiences, including staff, families, and the Board of Education Maintain strong visibility throughout the building and school community Instructional Leadership Provide instructional leadership, coaching, feedback, and evaluation to staff Lead and support continuous school improvement efforts focused on student growth and achievement Utilize student achievement and behavioral data to inform instructional decisions and interventions Support effective implementation of MTSS, inclusionary practices, literacy instruction, inquiry-based learning, and evidence-based instructional strategies Foster a strong Professional Learning Community (PLC) culture focused on collaboration and student success Ensure alignment of curriculum, instruction, assessment, intervention practices, and behavioral supportsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan Administrator Certification Master's degree or higher in Educational Leadership or related field Successful teaching experience at the elementary level preferred Prior building leadership experience preferred Demonstrated knowledge of: MTSS and intervention systems Student behavior systems and restorative practices Elementary curriculum and instruction Data analysis and school improvement Inclusive practices and special education Professional Learning Communities Crisis prevention and school safety practices Strong organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills Commitment to relationship-buildingDESIRED LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS
