Summary of Duties:
The Summer School Aide supports students in developing literacy skills through curriculum provided by the Macomb Intermediate School District. The aide assists students in building foundational literacy skills that contribute to their growth as mature, capable, and responsible individuals in a global society. The summer program operates from 8:30 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide effective instructional support based on daily curriculum schedules Administer pre
  • and post-assessments Maintain lesson plans Plan instruction based on assessment data Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests Establish clear expectations for academic performance and behavior Be on site 15 minutes prior to camp start time and remain 15 minutes after dismissal Monitor students entering and exiting bus transportation Supervise students during breakfast and lunch Assess and evaluate students' academic progress weekly and maintain accurate records Prepare progress reports for students and parents Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes Perform other duties as assigned by the Summer Discovery Coordinator The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
Employee shall properly implement Board Policy 3122, Policy 4122, and Policy 2260 on non-discrimination and shall comply with Federal and State laws and regulations, particularly Part 1 104 of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 CFR) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Experience:
Elementary experience preferred; energetic and positive professional attitude required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
Communication Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructional and assessment materials; write clearly; and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems, manage multiple variables, and interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply current research and instructional theory; plan and implement differentiated lessons; and establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
