Key Responsibilities:
Communicate and listen effectively with customers, co-workers, and branch manager Specifically, understand the customer's needs and maintain clear communication with the General Foreman to confirm job scope, sequencing, and schedule related to hoist installation, operation, and dismantling Maintain a safe worksite, free of hazards, by ensuring full compliance with project safety programs, NYC DOB regulations, and manufacturer guidelines for personnel/material hoists Oversee all hoist operations on-site, including installation, climbing, tying-in, operation, maintenance, and dismantling, ensuring all work is performed safely and efficiently Supervise and direct hoist operators, mechanics, and labor crews; coordinate hoist usage logistics with other trades to avoid delays and conflicts Monitor manpower levels and productivity to ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget, minimizing overtime and maintaining profitability Ensure proper daily inspection, testing, and documentation of hoists in accordance with OSHA, manufacturer, and NYC DOB requirements Perform administrative duties including: Daily inspection logs and maintenance reports Jobsite inventory requests Safety meetings and toolbox talks Fall protection plans and hazard analyses Payroll time sheets Equipment rental tracking and return tickets Change orders and time & material tickets Bills of materials and other required documentation Review and understand pre-job plans, hoist layouts, and engineering drawings to ensure installations match design specifications Identify and document out-of-scope work to ensure proper tracking and recovery through change orders Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues with hoist systems to minimize downtime and maintain project flow Perform hands-on work as needed, including assisting with installation, tie-ins, adjustments, and repairsQualifications:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with construction hoists (personnel and/or material hoists) in commercial or high-rise environments Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience managing hoist crews or related vertical access equipment teams Strong understanding of hoist systems, including rack-and-pinion and cable-driven systems Ability to read and interpret blueprints, hoist layout drawings, and engineering specifications Experience performing and documenting required daily, weekly, and monthly hoist inspections Familiarity with jobsite reporting tools for timekeeping, safety documentation, and inventory tracking Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across trades, general foreman, project management, and field crews Proven ability to lead, train, and enforce safety and performance standards Physically capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not requiredRequirements:
Valid driver's license with clean driving record; travel between job sites required OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification NYC SST (Site Safety Training) Card - 62 Hours required (Local Law 196) Hoist Competent Person designation per OSHA standards (or ability to obtain within 30 days) Knowledge of NYC DOB Chapter 33 requirements related to hoisting operations Familiarity with New York State Labor Law (§240 & §241) as it applies to vertical access and fall protection Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred Thorough knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, manufacturer standards, and NYC/local regulations related to construction hoists BrandSafway offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance along with a generous 401k plan.About Us:
