Job Description

Recruitment Information This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Health, Environmental Management Division. The position is located in Waipahu to Aiea on the Island of Oahu. The State Recruiting Office will refer all inquiries regarding this exempt position to the Department of Health. Duties Summary Exempt, non-civil service appointment. The purpose of the Environmental Management Infrastructure Project (EMIP) is to support the implementation and ensure capacity to implement environmental recovery projects, after disasters and emergencies to protect Hawaii's water, land and air and mitigate their impact on public health. These environmental and public health protection efforts include managing traditional environmental pollutants and hazards. The purpose of this position is to develop, coordinate, implement, manage, and evaluate projects and programs addressing waste diversion and recycling to minimize disposal into landfills and potential impacts from emerging waste streams on the environment. Minimum Qualification Requirements
EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE
One and one-half (1.5) years of progressively responsible professional experience planning, directing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating projects. Such experience must include determining project goals, scope, deliverables, timelines, cost, and resources; leading projects teams; administering budgets and contracts; tracking project progress to ensure that milestones are met on time and within budget; documenting project progress; and identifying metrics for project evaluation.
SUBSTITUTION ALLOWED
Possession of a master's degree in engineering, biological or physical science, business administration, public administration, environmental and/or public health, from an accredited college or university maybe substituted for one (1) year of experience OR, possession of a doctorate degree in the above fields or in law, may be substituted for two (2) years of specialized experience.
