POSITION SUMARY
Determines eligibility and provides direct client services to eligible applicants, including continuous case management, assist clients with applications for all service available. This position will manage support services for all participants to promote self-sufficiency, educational opportunities, support finding, maintaining employment, and reviews training possibilities for work readiness to increase the overall wellbeing of participants and their families. This position reports to the Workforce Development Director or designee.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process 477 applications as assigned to promote self-sufficiency by referring to appropriate programs or resources following all local, state, and federal regulations based on the current 477 plan. Audit caseload quarterly to ensure follow-ups, enrollments, and notices are completed and eligibility documents are in database and file following the internal policies and procedures. Refer all participants to any available activities according to their Individual Self-sufficiency Plan (ISP). Monitors and provides direct and ongoing case management to participants, ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Review, document and determine payments for all assigned cases. Maintain records with internal budget and database for all financial transactions to compare for audit reports. Aware of the differences between the 477 and Maniilaq components to be compliant with allocated funding and avoid audit findings. Organize and assist with job fairs, student dinners, orientation for schools, workshops and other events as assigned to promote 477 programs and participants. Plan and enrolls for any training opportunities related to the grant requirements.
Job Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Employment & Training Caseworker I:
High school diploma or equivalent. Six months - 1 year of relevant work experience is desired. Familiarity with the Northwest Arctic Borough Region, its culture, and people. Ability to read, understand, and become proficient with the Maniilaq Workforce Development Plan, and the ability to put in practice the policy and regulations. Able to operate office equipment such as computers, fax, scan, copier, and telephone. Preferred experience at the intermediate level for all Microsoft Office software. Ability to become proficient with the Eaglesun database, Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing, with people in the service area and state agencies. Ability to travel in and out of region.
Employment & Training Caseworker II:
Requirements for a Caseworker I plus an additional year of relevant work experience, ability to revise, draft and submit 477 plan. Ability to recognize and suggest updates for the practices of policies, procedures and regulations. Be knowledgeable of each 477 component to ensure data input in TAS meets reporting compliance.
Employment & Training Caseworker III:
Requirements for a Caseworker II plus an additional year of relevant work experience. Ability to work with Software Company, and IT to train new staff. Must be able to obtain access to the State of Alaska screens including electronic mainframe, child support Mainframe, and SAM Unemployment. Assist with delegated task for state, federal annual reports. Attends 477 program training, conferences, meetings available annually. Other Job Information (if applicable):
