Process Engineer Location:
South Windsor, CT Must-Have Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or related field) 5+ years of process engineering experience in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing Hands-on experience with special processes: thermal spray, chemical processing (plating, anodizing, passivation), and coatings Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in a production environment Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and compliance requirements (Nadcap, ISO 9001, AS9100) About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to support and optimize critical special processes within a high-spec aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working closely with production teams, solving real-time issues, and driving measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and throughput. Key Responsibilities Process Development & Optimization Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes for thermal spray, chemical processing, and coating operations Analyze process performance and implement improvements to increase yield and reduce variation Establish and maintain process parameters, control plans, and work instructions Production Support Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing teams Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions quickly Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and quality teams to maintain production flow Quality & Compliance Ensure processes meet Nadcap, ISO 9001, and AS9100 requirements Support internal, customer, and third-party audits, including Nadcap audits Assist with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) Continuous Improvement Lead or support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives Identify and execute opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, and cycle time Use data analysis to drive process improvements New Product Introduction (NPI) Support process development for new parts and programs Conduct feasibility studies and process validations Assist with First Article Inspections (FAI) and production readiness Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate process documentation and engineering records Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) Ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards Preferred Qualifications Experience with Nadcap audits and special process requirements Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification/experience Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading Experience with process validation and control methodologies Familiarity with ERP or MES systems Key Skills Hands-on problem solving in a manufacturing environment Strong process improvement mindset Analytical thinking and data-driven decision making Effective cross-functional communication Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-compliance environments Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based bonuses Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Process Engineer (Aerospace) 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars South Windsor, CT ilocatum 6 reviews
