Job Description Optimize thermoplastics manufacturing processes, including extrusion and compounding operations. Troubleshoot production and equipment issues and implement corrective actions. Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, process specifications, routings, and BOMs. Provide technical leadership and engineering support for manufacturing projects. Collaborate with production teams to improve safety, quality, capacity, and efficiency. Support product costing, pricing evaluations, and manufacturing feasibility assessments. Train and mentor manufacturing personnel on processes and best practices. Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing statistical analysis and process optimization tools. Communicate with internal stakeholders and customers to support engineering and business objectives. The Successful Applicant A successful Plastics Process Engineer should have: Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. 5+ years of thermoplastics manufacturing experience. Experience with profile extrusion and/or compounding preferred. Strong understanding of process optimization, manufacturing scale-up, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies. Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred. Experience with tooling design, mold flow analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM). Knowledge of costing, quoting, manufacturing routing, and BOM management. Strong troubleshooting, project management, and technical leadership skills. Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship required.
