Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Aerospace Engineer to support the design, analysis, integration, testing, and refinement of advanced hypersonic flight systems and related aerospace technologies. In this role, you will collaborate with propulsion, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and operations teams to contribute to aerodynamic analysis, vehicle dynamics, propulsion integration, simulation and modeling, system performance evaluation, prototype development, and flight and ground test support. Operating with a high degree of technical independence, you will help solve complex engineering challenges, support critical design and development decisions, refine analytical models, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers while advancing next-generation hypersonic systems through rapid development and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead complex design, analysis, modeling, and simulation activities supporting hypersonic flight systems and aerospace hardware developmentDevelop and validate aerodynamic, propulsion, and flight dynamics models using engineering and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, CFD, and FEAEvaluate component, subsystem, and vehicle test data to refine predictive models, improve system performance, and support design validation effortsSupport propulsion system integration, instrumentation development, and aerospace hardware testing activitiesLead flight dynamics and control analysis supporting vehicle stability, mission performance, and system evaluationPerform vehicle dynamics modeling and simulation to assess flight characteristics, mission feasibility, and overall system performanceConduct Monte Carlo analyses and uncertainty simulations to evaluate trajectory performance, landing dispersion, and operational riskInvestigate structural, component, or system failures and support root cause analysis and corrective actionsCollaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and test teams to support system integration, functionality, and mission readinessSupport prototype development, hardware integration, and flight and ground test activities within a fast-paced research and development environmentMentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance and supporting professional development and knowledge sharingPrepare and communicate engineering reports, technical documentation, design reviews, and test results
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution 6+ years of aerospace engineering experience supporting advanced design, analysis, modeling, simulation, integration, testing, or flight system development Advanced understanding of aerodynamics, propulsion systems, hypersonic flight dynamics, thermal environments, and aerospace engineering fundamentals Proficiency with engineering and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, CFD, FEA, and CAD software Experience developing and validating engineering models using analytical methods, simulation tools, and empirical test data Experience working with propulsion systems, aerospace structures, fluid systems, instrumentation systems, or integrated vehicle subsystems Experience supporting guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) system development, vehicle dynamics modeling, or flight simulation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex engineering challenges, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop practical solutions Strong technical documentation and communication skills with the ability to prepare engineering reports, present technical findings, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams Ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced research and development environment Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership within multidisciplinary engineering teams U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering disciplineExperience supporting hypersonic systems, high-speed air-breathing propulsion systems, or advanced flight vehicle programsFamiliarity with propulsion testing, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and experimental hardware developmentExperience supporting flight testing, ground testing, or experimental aerospace development programsExperience working within aerospace, defense, DoD, or advanced research and development environmentsFamiliarity with rapid prototyping, hardware integration, and iterative engineering developmentExperience leading technical projects, design reviews, or multidisciplinary engineering efforts within complex aerospace programs
