Full Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Aviation Product Support Field Service Engineering at Garmin's location in Salem, OR. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of Field Service Engineers (FSE) and Field Services Representatives (FSR) of all levels (1, 2, and Senior) focusing on maintaining strategic relationships with Garmin aviation dealers, OEM, and fleet service centers through direct technical support.
Core Business Hours Responsibilities:
Essential Functions Supervise FSEs and FSRs of all levels within the product support team Determine training needs and develop training requirements to ensure team performance Design annual special project goals to challenge, develop, and enrich each team member Build and foster healthy team relationships, and drive for goal achievement and results Coordinate the collection and dissemination of product issues for Engineering Maintain key relationships with Garmin distributors/OEMs/fleet service centers Maintain and distribute to management weekly team performance reports Maintain and distribute to management bi-weekly support activity reports Provide annual team budget requirements Work with Aviation Product Support managers to improve product quality and reduce NFF returns Travel to customer facilities to provide on-site support of avionics installations Interpret failure trend reports of Garmin equipment to develop responses/action plans to customers Proactively work with departments to leverage technical tools to improve customer responsiveness Mentor and coach FSEs and FSRs to maximize customer satisfaction and job performance Provide troubleshooting support to FSEs and FSRs Responsible for ensuring that all customer (OEM, Fleet, Dealer) information and Garmin business information is maintained in strict confidence consistent with the associate's contractual confidentiality obligations as well as the Proprietary Information/Confidentiality provisions set forth in Garmin's Associate Handbook Perform the functions of an FSE/FSR as needed Approve debit/credit requests Administer DRC access, flyGarmin, Garmin Pilot Dealer Mode, tach timer resets, grant FSE unlocks, and customer account management Travel and attend industry trade shows, conferences, and business meetings up to 10% of the time
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 12 years of experience in avionics installation and/or troubleshooting including a minimum of 6 years of experience as a Garmin FSE or FSR and a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in an aviation related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Must have experience dealing with aviation distributors, OEM manufacturers, and service centers Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle Must have high level of interpersonal and communication skills Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others Must possess broad knowledge of aircraft systems and avionics sub-systems Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks Must be detail-oriented Desired Qualifications Business Administration and Management education or experience Pilot License A&P License Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
