About the Role Join a pioneering aerospace components team where you'll own complex power system designs from concept through production. This is a senior-level opportunity within Acutronic's Aerospace Components Division, leading New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from proposal through qualification and production support — with direct impact on next-generation defense and aerospace programs.
Note:
We're looking for candidates with hands-on power electronics/power systems experience — motor controls, power conversion, rectification, distribution — not general embedded systems or firmware-only backgrounds. What You'll Do Lead electrical design of power systems for actuation systems, turbo generators, power generation/conversion/distribution, and micro-thrust turbines Support proposals by assessing customer requirements and building compliance matrices Build power system performance models using MATLAB/Simulink Design power electronic hardware end-to-end: component selection, schematics, simulation, PCB layout — covering motor control, active rectification, DC-DC conversion, and 3-phase distribution Integrate sensors (resolver, VDT, pressure, current, HED) into closed-loop control systems Work closely with firmware/software teams on integration Perform hands-on bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting in the lab Lead failure investigations and RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) activities Support reliability assessments (MTBF, FTA) What You Bring 5-15 years of experience in electrical power engineering with a focus on power electronics Proven experience with motor controls and power systems at 2kW and above Hands-on experience with 3-phase systems, DC-DC conversion, and active rectification Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent modeling tools Experience working with firmware in power electronic systems Experience with RCCA and reliability analysis (MTBF, FTA) Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering (required) Nice to Have Aerospace/defense experience under AS9100 Master's degree or PE license (in progress or completed) Experience with servo-actuators, micro-turbines, or hybrid-electric propulsion HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing experience Schedule & Perks Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with some Fridays off 100% employer-paid benefits Relocation assistance for candidates anywhere in the U.S. willing to relocate to Austin, TX Interview Process HR phone screening In-person team interview (Austin, TX)
