Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Aerodynamic Modeling Engineer/ Principal Aerodynamic Modeling Engineer. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.What You Will Get To Do:
As an Aerodynamic Modeling Engineer on the Aero/Fluids team you will be responsible for supporting the Aero/Fluids functional homeroom manager in guiding the execution and ensuring quality of the Aero/Fluids teamwork products across Sentinel and Advanced Programs.Position responsibilities include:
- Apply extensive aerodynamic knowledge, skills and ability in pursuit of meeting contractual requirements. Strong emphasis on the development of tools, processes, and resources to translate raw aero data (CFD, experimental, flight test) into models, databases, simulations (e.g. 3/6 DOF), etc.
- Develop, validate, and refine aerodynamic models specifically for missile applications.
- Ensure the quality of Aero/Fluids team products meets technical rigor and IPT/deliverable standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot aerodynamic issues during design, testing, and operational phases, proposing viable solutions or improvements.
- Develop technical solutions to complex aerodynamic problems.
- Collaborate closely with other relevant disciplines/IPTs, e.g. Flight Analysis, Structures, Propulsion, Integration and test, etc.
- Communicate effectively and clearly; present technical approaches and findings to aero/fluids team and customers.

You Will Bring These Qualifications:
This role can be filled at the Aerodynamic Modeling Engineer (T02) or Principal Aerodynamic Modeling Engineer (T03) level.Aerodynamic Modeling Engineer:
2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters; 1 year with PhD.- Experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ or similar for integration into 3/6DOF simulations.
- Experience with analytical aerodynamic design tools, e.g. Missile DATCOM or similar.
- Experience analyzing wind tunnel test data and flight test results to validate simulation outcomes and inform model adjustments.
- Demonstrated technical writing experience in authoring formal analysis documentation.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Security clearance approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Principal Aerodynamic Modeling Engineer:
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhD.- Experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ or similar for integration into 3/6DOF simulations.
- Experience with analytical aerodynamic design tools, e.g. Missile DATCOM or similar.
- Experience analyzing wind tunnel test data and flight test results to validate simulation outcomes and inform model adjustments.
- Demonstrated technical writing experience in authoring formal analysis documentation.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Security clearance approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
These Qualifications Are Nice To Have:
- Active In Scope DoD Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience working with customers and senior leadership to ensure project success.
- Demonstrated experience working with Linux and Windows based HPC's for aero/fluids work.
- Basic CAD experience to miniplate models.
- Involvement with the planning and execution of physical aerodynamics related testing applications such as wind tunnels or flight test validation including scheduling, test matrix and development of test items.
- Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
