•ITAR required so must be U.S. Citizen, National, or Green Card Holder Position Summary The GSE Electrical Design Engineer will develop practical electrical hardware and automated test equipment used to verify aerospace electronics in the lab and on the production floor. GSE in this environment is closely analogous to Automated Test Equipment (ATE) , so candidates do not need previous aerospace GSE experience if they have relevant ATE, production-test or lab-hardware experience. Unlike a flight-product EE, this role does not require aerospace design analysis or complex high-layer-count space PCBs. The custom boards are generally simple 2-4-layer test/interface boards . Success depends on being able to independently take these practical test boards from schematic through layout and release, design complete cable assemblies and pinouts, select commercial test instruments, translate product requirements into test-system requirements, and help implement Python-controlled GSE that is safe, maintainable and reusable. Required Qualifications Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of simple test/interface PCB designs , including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, board release, bring-up and electrical troubleshooting. Hands-on cable or harness design experience, including connector selection, pinouts, signal mapping and cable diagrams . Ability to select and integrate off-the-shelf test instrumentation . Ability to translate abstract product requirements into implementable test-system requirements and hardware . Experience using oscilloscopes, DMMs, DAQs, power supplies, electronic loads or signal generators . Clear communication, practical judgment, organization and accurate engineering documentation. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical engineering experience. Approximately 2+ years of relevant experience designing PCB assemblies, test hardware, GSE, ATE, production test sets, lab systems or automation-supporting electronics. Key Responsibilities Own end-to-end design of custom GSE/ATE electronics, including simple interface, mux, breakout, adapter, relay, load and harness-interface boards. Create schematics, perform PCB layout for primarily 2-4-layer test boards , select components and release drawings and manufacturing files.

Design complete cable assemblies:

select connectors and materials, define signal-to-pin assignments, create cable diagrams and pinout tables, and release build information. Select and integrate commercial test equipment such as power supplies, measurement systems, DAQs, DMMs, oscilloscopes, loads and switching equipment. Read product requirements and derive the GSE/ATE/test-system requirements needed to prove product compliance. Implement, bring up and troubleshoot boards, cables, racks, instruments and system-level electrical interfaces. Partner with Python software and automation engineers; contribute basic Python scripts for instrument control and GSE operation where appropriate. Support automated testing, engineering validation, production test and scalable product-delivery workflows. Maintain BOMs, drawings, interface records, configuration data and concise build/release documentation. Work closely with product electrical, FPGA, embedded software, systems, hardware-infrastructure, test and manufacturing personnel. Preferred Qualifications Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) , production test sets, industrial automation, robotics, laboratory systems or manufacturing engineering. Experience with Altium, KiCad, OrCAD, Eagle or similar ECAD tools; aerospace-specific tools are not mandatory. Basic Python proficiency, especially for instrument control or test automation; familiarity with SCPI, VISA or DAQs is helpful. Familiarity with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, GPIO, ADC/DAC, LVDS, RS-422 or RS-485 interfaces. Knowledge of grounding, shielding, protection, ESD, noise and EMI/EMC considerations in lab and production equipment. Aerospace/defense experience is welcome but not required; strong candidates may come from industrial, automotive, robotics, medical-device or other hardware environments. Salary Range:
