This position offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects involving agriculture, water quality, irrigation, nutrient management, salinity, and environmental compliance. You will support clients across California's Central Valley and Central Coast, including growers, dairies, wineries, food processors, agricultural organizations, nonprofits, and public agencies. We are looking for someone who enjoys applied problem solving, field and office work, data analysis, regulatory strategy, and helping agricultural operations improve environmental performance through practical and effective solutions. Responsibilities Support agricultural water quality and environmental compliance programs Analyze grower, field, and environmental data to identify trends and develop solutions Prepare technical reports, data summaries, visualizations, and regulatory deliverables Assist with irrigation, nutrient, and salinity management planning Conduct field sampling and site investigations involving soil, water, wastewater, crops, ponds, and wells Support permitting, regulatory reporting, and agency coordination Evaluate soil-water, nutrient, and salt balances Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary project teams Grow into greater responsibility, client interaction, and project management over time Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related natural science, earth science, or engineering field Strong interest in agriculture, agronomy, water quality, irrigation, and soil science Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills Interest in environmental consulting, regulatory compliance, and project management Experience with data analysis, reporting, or technical writing Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel and Word Strong initiative, organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage work independently Ability to work collaboratively with clients, agencies, and internal project teams Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related field Familiarity with irrigation, nutrient management, salinity management, evapotranspiration, or soil-water balances Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, remote sensing, R, Python, or other data analysis tools Knowledge of California agricultural or environmental regulations Experience with environmental statistics, laboratory methods, or data QA/QC Interest in wastewater management, beneficial reuse, SGMA, CV-SALTS, or agricultural regulatory programs Professional Development Although not required, Provost & Pritchard supports professional development toward credentials such as Certified Professional Soil Scientist, Certified Crop Adviser, Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, Certified Hydrogeologist, and Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.
