About the Opportunity Brunel is recruiting a Project Manager to support a global renewable energy company in the delivery of a utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Brownwood, Texas. The Project Manager will own the office-based management of the project from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through Commercial Operation Date (COD), with responsibility for project budget, schedule, contract administration, risk management, and stakeholder reporting. Working closely with the field-based Construction Manager, this position will serve as the central point of coordination across Construction, Preconstruction, Procurement, Contracts, Finance, and other project stakeholders throughout execution. This is an approximately 8-10 month W-2 contract opportunity. Following completion of the project, there may be an opportunity to transition into a permanent position with the organization, depending on business needs and individual performance. This opportunity is well suited for a self-directed Project Manager who is comfortable taking ownership of complex renewable energy projects within a lean, fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Receive project handoff from Preconstruction at NTP, including contracts, project documentation, baseline budget, and schedule. Establish and maintain project controls, tracking tools, reporting cadence, and project documentation. Support project kickoff, mobilization, and execution planning in partnership with the Construction Manager. Maintain alignment between project execution and commitments established during preconstruction and contracting. Schedule & Budget Management Own and maintain the master project schedule, incorporating construction progress and monitoring performance against baseline. Manage project budgets, including cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting. Review contractor invoices, pay applications, change orders, and other project costs. Identify schedule or cost deviations and coordinate recovery or mitigation plans with project stakeholders. Contract & Commercial Management Administer EPC contracts and major subcontracts throughout project execution. Track contractual obligations, milestones, deliverables, and commercial requirements. Review RFIs, submittals, change requests, and other project documentation for potential commercial and schedule impacts. Coordinate with Contracts and Legal regarding contract interpretation, amendments, change orders, and claims. Procurement & Vendor Coordination Coordinate with Procurement regarding major equipment delivery schedules and project logistics. Monitor vendor commitments and equipment deliveries against the construction schedule. Identify and escalate potential schedule, cost, or execution risks related to suppliers and equipment. Stakeholder & Executive Reporting Serve as a key point of contact for internal leadership regarding project status, financial performance, schedule, and risks. Prepare project reports, dashboards, forecasts, and executive updates. Coordinate project milestone and stage-gate reviews. Maintain effective communication across field and corporate project teams. Risk Management Maintain the project risk register and proactively identify schedule, budget, contractual, and commercial risks. Partner with the Construction Manager and other stakeholders to resolve issues affecting project execution. Develop and support mitigation and recovery strategies when project performance deviates from plan. Project Closeout Coordinate commercial, contractual, financial, and documentation closeout. Manage final change orders, retainage, outstanding deliverables, and contract closeout activities. Support project transition to Asset Management following completion. Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement across future projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field. 5+ years of project management experience within utility-scale solar, BESS, construction, infrastructure, or a related industry. Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and EPC contracts or major subcontracts. Demonstrated experience supporting projects through construction and execution. Strong understanding of EPC contract structures, change orders, claims, and commercial project management. Experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project. Experience with project cost tracking, budgeting, and forecasting tools. Proficiency with Procore, Point, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong financial and commercial acumen. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced project environment. PMP certification preferred. Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. Typical Project Scope Projects supported by this position may include: Utility-scale Solar PV projects ranging from approximately 100 MW to 500+ MWdc. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) ranging from approximately 50 MW to 300+ MWac. Substations, collector systems, and associated balance-of-plant infrastructure. Working Environment This position requires close coordination with both corporate and field-based project teams. Extended hours may occasionally be required during major project milestones, contract negotiations, mobilization activities, or critical reporting periods.
