Posting Details Position Details Title Postdoctoral Fellow - RPBS Lab Appointment Status Non-Tenure Track Department IU Bloomington Intelligent Systems Engineering Location Bloomington Position Summary The RPBS Lab invites applications for Postdoctoral Researcher positions. Postdocs will lead independent research projects at the interface of focused ultrasound, synthetic biology, and cancer immunotherapy while mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career scientists looking to develop a strong publication record and build an independent research trajectory within a highly collaborative and well-resourced environment. Research Areas Sonogenetics — engineering ultrasound-responsive genetic circuits for non-invasive cellular control Mechanotransduction — investigating how mechanical forces from focused ultrasound alter immune cell function and tumor microenvironments Acoustic tool development — designing next-generation transducers, wearable ultrasound devices, and integrated imaging-therapy platforms Translational immunotherapy — combining ultrasound priming with CAR T and other cellular therapies for solid tumors What We Offer Competitive NIH -scale salary with full benefits through Indiana University Dedicated mentorship toward career development, grant writing, and faculty applications Access to shared core facilities (imaging, flow cytometry, animal resources) within the Luddy School and IU Bloomington Travel funding for conference presentations A collaborative, interdisciplinary research culture
Basic Qualifications Required:
Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, biophysics, molecular biology, immunology, electrical engineering, or a closely related field Strong record of peer-reviewed publications Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following: ultrasound/acoustics, cell engineering, synthetic biology, cancer immunology, or bioimaging Experience with in vivo animal studies is a plus Excellent written and oral communication skills Department Contact for Questions Questions may be sent to: Dr. Nate Yoon ( nateyoon@iu.edu ) Additional Qualifications Preferred Skills Hands-on experience with focused ultrasound systems or acoustic characterization Proficiency in molecular cloning, CRISPR, or genetic circuit design Experience with flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, or in vivo imaging (bioluminescence, fluorescence) Computational skills for data analysis, signal processing, or simulation (Python, MATLAB ) Experience mentoring junior researchers Salary and Rank Special Instructions Applications received by October 1, 2026 will receive full consideration.
