The Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for designing, developing,testing, and maintaining electromechanical (mechatronic) systems and componentsthat support Laerdal's Maternal & Nursing products and solutions. This roleensures high-quality, reliable system functionality throughout the productlifecycle while collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering, production,and quality teams. Position Holder isAccountable For:
Managing mechatronic design architecture, solutions and documentation throughout the product lifecycle. Ensuring product regulatory compliance and adherence to internal standards and regulatory requirements. Maintaining accurate documentation of mechatronic systems within PLM systems. Technical decision-making for component selection, system design strategies, and design verification validation methods. Providing technical guidance during product changes, upgrades, and quality improvements. Communicating and collaborating with cross-functional teams, architecture leadership, and product teams.RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechatronics Systems Product Development:
Design, develop, and improve electro-mechanical (mechatronic) components, assemblies, and systems based on product requirements. Define technical requirements at the component, system, and product levels. Build, test, and verify electromechanical assemblies to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance. Troubleshoot complex issues using strong root-cause analysis and develop practical, creative solutions. Create and maintain clear engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle. Design solutions with manufacturing, assembly, serviceability, reliability, regulatory, and compliance requirements in mind. Support regulatory testing, certification, and product industrialization activities. Evaluate and approve supplier components and provide technical input to sourcing teams and vendor partners. Support manufacturing by resolving mechatronic issues, improving design robustness, and optimizing components for cost and supply reliability.System Architecture:
Define, document, and communicate system architectures, including control systems and connected devices. Design system architectures optimized for thermal performance, power efficiency, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless system integration. Proactively identify and manage technical issues, risks, uncertainties, and opportunities throughout development.Collaboration & Technical Leadership:
Align and collaborate with system architecture teams. Collaborate and support Cybernetics & Robotics Engineering discipline within the company. Build and maintain strong professional network within company and industry.Requirements:
Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical design principle & mechatronic systems design Experience with multidisciplinary hardware product development Knowledge of sensors, actuators, and control theory Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems Experience with system level design and cabling Curious, creative and passionate about innovation and problem solving Proficiency in CAD software preferably Siemens NX Good at rapid prototyping and iterative product design Experience with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers) Experience with prototyping equipment and 3D printingEducation & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Biomedical Engineering Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and clinical skills is a plus 0-3 year's experience Please note that this range does not include any other compensation or benefits that an individual may be eligible for.
