How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:
We are seeking a motivated and qualified Innovation Engineer to join our team in Roanoke, VA. This is a onsite position that requires regular in-person attendance at our office location. The Innovation Engineer collaborates with the Innovation Team to design, develop, and test cutting-edge medical devices and solutions to address complex healthcare challenges within a hospital setting. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to identify clinical needs, translating them into technical requirements, and deliver innovative, safe, and effective solutions. The engineer will collaborate on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while adhering to regulatory standards. Additionally, the Innovation Engineer will conduct rigorous device testing, provide technical support for existing systems, and stay abreast of emerging technologies to continuously advance healthcare innovation and patient outcomes. The Innovation Engineer Supports manufacturing, technology transfer, and commercialization activities as projects advance through the innovation and development process. Provides technical expertise and guidance to support innovation initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners. Demonstrates professionalism, responsiveness, and a commitment to excellent service when working with internal customers, project stakeholders, and external collaborators. Identifies and analyzes clinical challenges and designs innovative solutions to enhance patient care, safety, and operational efficiency. Assists with developing and prototyping new medical devices and technologies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Collaborates with healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders to understand needs, gathers requirements, and translates them into technical solutions. Performs rigorous testing and validation of devices and systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety. Provides project direction and leads efforts to resolve the issue. Collaborates on multiple projects simultaneously and ensures successful project delivery. Stays informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the medical device and healthcare innovation fields. Contributes to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Contributes to developing standards and methodologies for the department. Participates in meetings and other committees/task forces.
Preferred skills:
Familiarity with electrical systems, electronics, and basic hardware prototyping, including experience with microcontrollers, single-board computers, sensors, and related components. Familiarity with programming or scripting languages used for prototyping, testing, automation, or hardware integration. Working knowledge of ISO 13485 and quality management system requirements applicable to medical device design and development.

Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or in lieu of degree, associate's degree and 2 years of experience.

2 years of relevant experience
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communications skills, willing to continuously learn new skills, positive attitude, self-motivated, ability to work with minimal direction, ability to lead, and adapt to change. Highly skilled in use of personal computers. Experience in electrical, biomedical, mechanical, or software engineering, a passion for problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous professional growth. Experience with managing projects. Compensation Range:
$69,721.60 - $104,582.40 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
